"What type of ally would I be if I didn't listen to Raphael's warnings?" He could easily imagine what Raphael would say about his envoy. Jace was the type of person that Raphael tried to stay away from. Which either made this a practical joke from the city's vampires or Raphael really did think Jace would be helpful.

Trying to hide his amusement over Jace chasing after the pen, he managed to keep his expression politely interested while he scrambled to pick it up. Taking the pen, he tried to figure out what was going on with the vampire. He seemed to be off balance but Alec hadn't done anything to cause that. "That's because I'm not pretty.
